Game Day/Entertainment Internship - Edmonton Eskimos (Edmonton, AB)

The Edmonton Eskimos are looking for a seasonal Game Day/Entertainment Intern.

Reporting to the Game Operations Coordinator, you are at the heart of the day to day activities tied to our game day execution, including all forms of fan entertainment and community event initiatives.

This seasonal role provides invaluable hands on experience and training within the sports & entertainment industry, through assisting with pre-game Fanfest initiatives, in game events & halftime entertainment, coordination of promotional materials, set-up and tear down to coordinating our Mascots.

In addition to being a team player, you are physically able to lift at least 40 pounds and participate in prolonged physical activity. Pass catching and tackling ability is not required. The Eskimos are an equal opportunity employer – that includes the uncoordinated.

·         Availability to work long days and a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays

·         Entertainment/sports or event management experience and training (a combination of both is an asset.)

Student Athletic Therapist - Saskatoon Training Camp - Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club Inc. (Regina, SK)

TERM: May 26 - June 16

Reporting to the Head Athletic Therapist, the Student Athletic Therapist will be responsible in assisting in maintenance and execution of strategies to successfully run the training camp in Saskatoon. The student will provide assistance in maintaining the health and wellness of the players. This position will be a great learning experience for those looking to make a career in professional sports.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist Athletic Trainer in providing basic first aid to players including taping and treatments.
  • Ensure players stay hydrated throughout their training.
  • Assist in daily maintenance of the clinic including cleaning, organizing, stocking, and inventory.
  • Communicate with Athletic Therapist on a daily basis with respect to what players are injured and require medical attention.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:

  • Pursuing and education in sports medicine, athletic therapy, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Ability to meet multiple demands in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matters involving players.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Availability to work irregular hours and all training camp days.

Athletic Therapist Intern - Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club Inc. (Regina, SK)

TERM: May-November

Reporting to the Head Athletic Therapist, the Athletic Therapist Intern will be responsible in helping the Athletic Therapists throughout the term. The intern will assist in player health and rehabilitation both on and off the field. This position will be a great learning experience for those looking to make a career in professional sports.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily treatments of the players.
  • Assist in daily maintenance of the clinic including cleaning, organizing, stocking, and inventory.
  • Support the Athletic Therapist team with implementation of treatment and rehabilitation programs.
  • Assist in injury reporting and documentation.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:

  • Completion of 2 or more years in sports medicine, athletic therapy, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Ability to meet multiple demands in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matters involving players.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using computer software including spreadsheets, databases, internet based systems, email, etc.
  • Availability to work irregular hours and game days.
